Who: Phonos & Melinoe
Where: The Cortez Hotel
What: The pair are sent to retrieve a corpse, but the hotel has a way of messing with people.
Phonos glances back at Melinoe before pulling open one of the hotel's two double doors, stepping inside. He's surprised at the grandeur of the lobby given the rundown quality of the neighborhood. Of course, they're here to retrieve a body already processed by forensics, so perhaps the hotel isn't so lush after all. Moving easily forward through the lobby, the pathologist-by-day steps up to the desk of the clerk. Seeing no one there, he taps lightly to ring the bell.
"Honeymoon?" Asks the older woman as she bustles forward from some back room. "We have a suite available."
Phonos immediately stiffens, glancing to Melinoe and then back to the woman again. Although his expression remains even to an indifferent party, one who knows him as well as Melinoe does might recognize the slight narrowing of his eyes and the hitching of his breath accompanying his discomfort. "No. We're here to retrieve the body."
"Oh. Well, I'm afraid we don't have clearance to be releasin' the body 'til midnight. The officers told us they wouldn't be sendin' someone 'til tomorrow. That was the deal. You can call them. We aren't releasin' it 'til then. So you have-" The woman glances at the clock on the wall behind her. "-near five hours to kill 'fore then."
