[iv] if you wait too long then you'll never see the dawn again

Christmas is bordering on ridiculous. Commercialism aside, the customs all originate from different religions and cultures and many have been perverted by time. Trees were meant to hang upside-down and the Saint Nicholas rescued children from a butcher, not gave them presents. Trust Americans to Slaughter traditions in order to corrupt the matters to a form for their own adolescent nation.

The corpses only make me desire fresh blood. Thanatos stole from me my last pursuit.

Also, from whom did I receive this "Murder by Numbers"? I wish to thank them.

Have you any need of my services at present?

Santa left gifts for everyone.

That is what people say about us, too.

All I am saying is, you and everyone else received a gift on Christmas night, signed by someone only known as Santa.

It is obviously a pseudonym. I wanted to thank the person responsible, that is all.

Our Santa was likely just looking to spread a little of that giving spirit of the season, and took their joy in being able to give.

[Filter: Eos] Unfortunately, Phonos doesn't compute anonymous kindness.

What a strange person.

[Filter: Phonos] Makes sense, but now Eos has a misguided sense of sneakiness

Many people enjoy making others happy. Our Santa is just this way.

[Filter: Eos] Hehehe. He has no idea it's her. >>;

I disagree. I think whoever of our complex feels the need to use the pseudonym of a Dutch vigilante to feel joy by giving gifts to others is not healthy psychologically.

Perhaps you are over thinking it. They may only wish to have given everyone a sense of being special, being remembered, during the holiday. And perhaps taking the identity of Santa was a way to do this without making anyone feel the obligation to reciprocate, and allow everyone to simply enjoy their gifts.

Why would one expend the resources but not the effort? If it was to ensure everyone feeling remembered, it would only be necessary to buy presents for those without other company. I do not understand why anyone would feel "obligation" to reciprocate anyway. Let alone desperation or low self-esteem they must possess to feel the need to endeavor to please so many others.

My self esteem is fine and I am not desperate!

To not give a present to someone just because they live with another would be rude and not in the spirit of the season. And many people would likely feel obligated to give a gift in return had the "Santa" made their identity known, as that is customary and polite. But with the giver unknown, there is no need to reciprocate, and all one must do is enjoy a gift given, especially for them.

And it is not out of desperation or low self-esteem the gifts were given, but out of a sense of joy in giving to others. Were it as you think, then they would have had a need to be acknowledge and put their own name on the gifts.

It is customary to give gifts to those you care about. Giving a gift solely for the purpose of exchange is only done by those too afraid to admit to not having requited affections. By relieving them of this choice, the so-called "Santa" is only hindering their growth and improvement as mortals.

Not if they are afflicted by the condition which gains them satisfaction only by giving.

You are very strange. Is it so difficult to consider that someone would simply give you something just to make you happy for an instant. Not because they wanted anything in return, but because it is simply a nice thing to do?

[identity profile] earlyrisingdawn.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha. There is the core problem. You are trying to view it logically. Doing something nice just because is not a thing based in logic.

Dear, stop trying to understand and just enjoy.
